Post-Detox Adaptation
Your body continues to detoxify and cleanse during the post-cleansing
period. Any toxins that have accumulated in your body will tend to be
swept out by natural fibre from the fruits and vegetables. Our Post-Detox Adaptation
package provides you with:
Probiotics: healthy bowel conditions, reducing the toxic load on the
liver as the bad bacteria generate toxins (the liver has to break them
down).
Digestive enzymes: ads digestion and prepares your body for cooked food
Spirulina: 10 vitamins, 8 minerals, and 18 amino acids and beneficial
enzymes. It contains a complete protein of 65-71% (12-15 times more
protein than steak) and is 5 times easier to digest than meat or soy
protein. It also helps reduce weight and with many allergies.

Is this the ultimate lazy detox?
Looking for a fast weight-loss regime, Ella Buchan at Daily Express signed up for the latest juice diet.
I prefer my juices blitzed in a blender with crushed ice, a generous dash of rum and a burger on the side. However according to recent research I shouldn’t be using juice as a way to re-tox but as a way to detox.
Juice diets are proving so popular that sales of juice, smoothies and yogurt-based drinks have gone through the roof and are growing all the time. With actresses such as Jennifer Aniston, Drew Barrymore and Sarah Jessica Parker all said to be devotees I decided that swapping my usual Cosmopolitan cocktail for a combination of carrot, apple and beetroot juices might be worth a try.
The occasional half-hearted “I’m not eating bread today” aside I have never dieted in my life. Not because I have a perfect figure or am particularly happy with my red-wine belly but because I’m too lazy. The idea of blitzing fruit to produce home-made juices had always put me off the idea of a juice cleanse and it seems I am not the only one who thinks so.
There is a raft of companies out there catering for lazy, would-be dieters like me. Some will put together packages for the “fasting” days of your 5:2 diet while others provide all your calorie-controlled meals. Now you can also order a juice cleansing plan online and have everything you need delivered right to your door.
Juicing promises to rid your body of toxins, increase weight loss and your metabolism and leave you with a gorgeous glow.
Nutritionist Sally Wisbey says: “The key is to make sure you include lots of green vegetables as fruit on its own contains a lot of sugar. If you are looking to detox then it is a good way to start as it helps to give your digestive system a rest.
“It is also a great way to absorb lots of nutrients in one go so is ideal for people who don’t eat many vegetables.”
When it comes to weight loss Sally advises to do no more than a couple of days to kick-start your programme.
“I do not see it as a good long-term way to lose weight,” she adds. “Juicing fruit alone can be so high in sugar that it may have the reverse effect on weight loss so don’t be fooled into thinking that all juices are healthy.
“Also anyone with medical problems or who is taking medication should consult their doctor before taking part in any juice cleanse.”
If you don’t fancy fiddling about with a juicer and ending up covered in pulp and seeds, packages such as those offered by Purifyne are ideal. With plans starting at £89 for a one-day weight loss cleanse it isn’t cheap but is it worth it?
I choose the five-day weight-loss plan that comes to a whopping £265. Yet Purifyne co-founder Irina Bond promises me it is worth every penny.
“The difference should be dramatic,” she says. “You will have more energy, smoother skin, brighter eyes plus a feeling of lightness. It could even change your attitude to foods in the long run.”
Would it work? I kept a diary to record my progress.
Day 1
My first two-day supply of juices and supplements arrived last night (they are delivered in two batches to keep them fresh). There are four juices per day, one lemonade, two lots of dietary supplements (essential fatty acids and spirulina) and two sachets of unappetising colosan powder (a colon cleanser), which supposedly “produces powerful detoxifying effects”.
Each morning starts with a glass of warm water and lemon juice followed by a tablespoon of colosan powder stirred into some of my first juice. After downing a dose of green super-foods powder mixed with water, which tastes like chocolatey grass, the rest of the day is simple. Just alternate juices with water and herbal tea.
Day 2
I don’t feel hungry but I think this is because of the huge amount of liquid I’m drinking. I do miss solid food though and find myself eyeing up people’s lunches and snacks in the office. The juices are fine – zingy and fresh. I am also told to drink two cups of “pu’erh tea”, which is believed to have weight-loss properties but I’m not keen as it tastes fishy.
Ridiculously on the back of the sachet of tea it suggests drinking it “after a rich meal”. It’s going to be a long week.
Day 3
The thought of no food all week must be getting to me. I become irrationally angry that my local supermarket doesn’t sell lemons and I have to traipse up the road to a fruit and veg stall. Also do my colleagues always talk this much about food or am I just noticing it more?
As the rest of my desk discusses the best place to get a juicy burger my taste buds tingle in delicious anticipation and then recoil in disgust as I pour another beetroot, carrot and apple concoction down my throat.
Day 4
I feel slimmer. My stomach is flatter and I feel “cleaner”. My skin looks fresher and plumper. I still haven’t had any hunger pangs but I really miss the taste of food.
It’s difficult socially too. I can’t wait to go out with friends and have a drink on Saturday. Standing in a pub drinking water just doesn’t cut it.
Day 5
It’s the last day of my juice cleanse and I can’t help but be happy that I’ll finally be able to eat properly again. Yet when I step on the scales it suddenly all seems worth it. In just five days I’ve lost an astonishing 7lb.
Would I do it again? I’m not sure.
Probably if I needed to slim quickly for a special occasion or holiday or just wanted to kickstart a diet. There is no denying that the results are amazing for such a short period of time.
I also think having the juices prepared (and paying for the privilege) makes you more committed and less likely to cheat.
For lazy girls like me having your juice delivered direct to your door makes sense

Super energy smoothie by Vicki Edgson
Ingredients: Cashew nut milk, Fresh and dried (soaked in water) Apricots, Sunflower seeds, Protein powder, Cinnamon
Description: Created, tried and tasted by Vicki Edgson, a leading nutritionist in the UK, this Super Energy Smoothie is one of the most tasty smoothies we have ever come across. Not surprising that we have jumped on the opportunity to provide it to our clients via our online shop after receiving permission from the master herself, Vicki Edgson.
Benefits: Start your day with this purely delicious, velvety and creamy Super Energy Smoothie and you will not be thinking of snacking well into lunchtime.
Packed in protein (due to protein powder, apricots and cashews) and fibre (due to apricots), the smoothie boosts your energy levels, keeps you fuller for longer, aids body’s natural detoxification process making bowel movements smoother and digestion more affective.
Perfect as your post-workout snack for better muscle recovery, cashews provides a good source of magnesium essential for energy metabolism and nerve function. The heart healthy fats are mostly anti-inflammatory oleic fats. These monounsaturated fats are the same as found in olive oil and macadamia that are good for cardiovascular health.
Interview with Kaori Murphy, our colon therapist and nutritional consultant
Why did you choose being a nutritionist?
I chose to be a nutritional therapist as I believe that the fundamental importance of achieving optimum health is directly related to nutrition.
You are also a colon hydrotherapist. How does that help you with being a nutritionist.
Having a nutritional background, it really helps me to advise clients what aspects of their lifestyle & diet that need addressing specifically based on the waste matters released during a colonic session. It also helps me to understand what kind or levels of cleansing programme that the client may suit best.
You are very much health-orientated. Does it come naturally to you because of your childhood time in Japan and Japanese diet or you are that way for a specific reason?
No, unfortunately Japanese diet had been westernised since the Second World War. I wasn’t health conscious when I was young. I was surrounded by sugar, refined carbohydrates, dairy products and junk foods like anyone that doesn’t have any ideas on health and nutrition.
Because of my childhood health issues, I became interested in health to improve my issues, which led to me to where I am.
Tell us about your first cleanse, what was the experience like and the reason behind it?
I remember that my first cleanse was tough. I did a water fast. That was when I was studying naturopathy back in 2001. There was a lecture on fasting, so I tried as an experiment.
At that time, I didn’t have nutritional knowledge and my blood sugar wasn’t balanced, so I felt hungry all the time and experienced really bad headaches. I couldn’t continue more than two days. It would have suited me best if I started to balance my blood sugar levels first before the fasting.
We know that you normally cleanse via diet so what is it consist of?
I don’t usually cleanse just using diet alone. However, some clients who have never done a cleanse before and their diet is a full of acidic foods e.g. sugar, refined carbohydrates, stimulants and processed foods, it is best to start with dietary changes first. These changes itself bring the body to prepare detoxification process. Then once their diet is balanced and they feel fine with the changes, they are ready to do more an intense detox like the Purifyne cleanse programmes.
If this preparation hasn’t been done in advance, they often will experience the worst headaches, nausea and bloating etc., which are called a healing crisis.
There are many ways to cleanse the body just via diet and foods e.g. brown rice detox diet, lemon detox diet and raw food diet, for instance. You need to find that one that suits you best taking a consideration of your work or home situation, stress levels and whether you can take a time off during the cleanse etc. These factors will influence the effectiveness of your cleansing programme. Whatever the methods that you decide to use, it is vital that you must cleanse your bowel during the programme. Otherwise, the toxins that are realised from the body will be reabsorbed back into your system. It will cause more harm than the benefits!
What is your favorite Purifyne juice combination?
My favorite Purifyne juice is Green Supreme. I like the combination very much and very cleansing.
You have a lot of clients while on juice cleanse. What are the changes you see in your clients’ diet after the cleanse?
I think some people do the cleanse because they want to kick start of a healthy, balanced diet & lifestyle.
Other clients stick to more sensible diet i.e. no sugar & no stimulants and other clients start a new dietary programme e.g. Alkaline / raw food diet, elimination diet and food combining etc. after the cleanse.
Do you have any healthy nutrition tips for our readers so that they may incorporate into their daily diet?
There are so many heath tips but I will write one health tip that everyone should take into a consideration, which is about a subclinical blood sugar imbalance.
This is extremely common issue that I come across a lot in my practice.
The common symptoms of a subclinical blood sugar imbalance are tiredness and lethargy if a meal is missed, energy dip after meal especially around 3-4p.m. headaches, irritability, craving for sugar and stimulants and many more.
This subclinical blood sugar imbalance can be caused by many factors:
- Skipping a meal
- Eating refined carbohydrates and high Glycaemic Index/Load (GI/GL) Foods
- Taking stimulants e.g. coffee, tea, alcohol and smoking
- Lacking in good quality proteins in each meal
- Stressful lifestyle
To help support your healthy blood sugar, you need to:
- Avoid eating refined carbohydrates and high GI/GL foods
- Avoid stimulants as much as possible
- Reduce your stress levels – taking more holidays and find a time to relax
- Eat good quality of various proteins in each meal and snacks
- Eat whole grains that has low GI/GL values
- Eat more Greens – in the pH miracle book, it talks about eating green (alkaline foods) helps balance the blood sugar levels
- Do regular exercise – exercise is very important for increasing in glucose uptake in the muscle and improves insulin sensitivity.
- Eat smaller and frequent meals – 3 small meals and 2 snacks daily
10 ways to beat the afternoon slump at work
Deep breathing - Take a few minutes out of your day to focus on your breathing. Making a conscious effort to breathe in through your nose, and out through your mouth. This will ease stress and you’ll find you can concentrate better.
Sit up straight – The next time you find yourself leaning over your keyboard at work, lean back, because poor posture means your muscles are working overtime. Sit up straight and you’ll feel less tired.
Move around – Take a short walk around the office when you’re feeling sluggish. The movement will get your blood circulating and your heart rate up. Better still, take a walk outside and the sunshine will give you a much needed vitamin D boost.
Eat protein at lunch – Simple carbohydrates like white pasta, rice and bread may leave you feeling energised initially, but you’ll soon start feeling lazy again. Instead opt for protein, such as meat, fish or eggs, which will leave you feeling not only energised, but fuller for longer.
Have a cup of tea – If you’re feeling sluggish around 3pm, you’re probably tempted to fetch a cup of coffee from the kitchen. Instead, opt for a caffeine free, low cal herbal tea that will also help keep you hydrated. There are so many different flavours to try, from Strawberry and Vanilla to Chamomile and Honey, you’re sure to find one you love and some,Ginseng and Peppermint varieties are naturally energising.
Do something easy – When you’re tired, even moderate tasks may seem daunting and impossible. Do something easy instead, like checking your emails or formatting your work, which will give you a sense of achievement but won’t zap your energy.
Call someone – Chatting to a loved one for just a few minutes could lift your spirits and put a big smile on your face. If you have the time, give them a ring – it may just invigorate you for the rest of the day.
Stretch – It’s so easy to get stuck in the same physical position that you can forget to stretch your muscles for a whole day. An easy stretch to do to get your blood flowing is to roll your shoulders forward and breathe in, then roll your shoulders backwards and breathe out. Repeat until you feel more awake.(Possibly do this one in the loo!)
Dark chocolate not only tastes delicious but has numerous health benefits as well © RexWork out – You may not have time to pop to the local gym mid-afternoon, but you can do a couple of simple exercises to wake you up. Tense your muscles and hold for 5-10 seconds, before moving onto a different muscle group. You could start with your arm muscles and then work on your legs.
Have a healthy snack – Ideally, you want a mid-afternoon snack that includes protein, fiber and complex carbohydrates. An oatcake with smoked salmon is a tasty choice. Or, if you have more of a sweet tooth, try natural yoghurt topped with oats and berries, or a couple of squares of dark chocolate. Healthy AND delicious.

You can have it either fresh or if they are dried, soak them in water and leave it overnight.
Constipation : having an excellent fiber content, apricots makes our bowel movements smoother and digestion more affective. Fiber is very important for everyone’s as it aids the body in the elimination of toxins.
